Candyman

She draws a circle in the sand, She holds a moonbeam in her hand, She takes me to her daddy's farm, she keeps me safe and free from harm,                         A tower of sea-shells gleaming bright, sends signals out into the night, I shiver not because I'm cold, but suddenly I feel so old,                                                     Older than time older than space, the planets circle round your face.

I'm feeling very big, I'm feeling very small, I'm falling down fast I'm not moving at all, I'm just doing what I can, I want to be your Candyman.

Pirates took our land away, now we work and don't get paid, we are little more than slaves, looking forward to our graves,                                                              Gipsy boys are off the site, they're going to be in town tonight, I wouldn't call them overdressed, but trackie bottoms have been pressed,                                Tank-tops gleaming wash-day white, looks like there's going to be a fight.

I'm feeling very big, I'm feeling very small, I'm falling down fast I'm not moving at all, I'm just doing what I can, I want to be your Candyman.

You'd better marry money honey, don't worry if the money's funny, I'll throw my hat into the ring, I'll hold my ground through thick and thin,                     You drew a circle in the sand, You placed a moonbeam in my hand, the sea-shells flew into the air, now I climb up the golden stair,                                             Somebody make the music stop, this sugar-spicy candy-pop.

I'm feeling very big, I'm feeling very small, I'm falling down fast I'm not moving at all, I'm just doing what I can, I want to be your Candyman.

Whiskey Preacher Man

When I pulled into Jericho it was 1973, with a copy of the Thief by Jean Genet and The Politics of Ecstasy.                                                                                               I learned to be a drunkard and I walked a crooked mile, we smoked until our heads came off, Afghanistani style                                                                                   You stood in the church at Christmas, and denounced the Virgin Birth, you named yourself a Sudras Priest and exposed a Demon's Curse.                             Your poison was addictive, I wanted to believe, but I started to see the demons and I knew it was time to leave.

Four Tops double album, Rock of ages by The Band, Police dogs at midnight, eating out of your hand,                                                                                                       California Sunshine, took you to the promised land, High Risky Teacher, Whiskey Preacher Man

I tried to keep you good humoured, while you were going round the bend, but it was a big brain tumour that got you in the end.                                                   Now I'm a monkey working for peanuts, in the pigmeat factory, dreaming about the good old days when we smoked until we were free.

Clean

I'm clean, I'm clean, I'm clean as a washing machine, but I still miss the smelly green, I still miss the jelly beans                                                                                       My eyes are bright, my lungs are white, my liver's near pristine but I dread to think  what might have been.

Now as I gently trim the hedge, I don't dare peer too far over the edge,                                                                                                                                                                      Just next door, just next door, the Mighty Abyss begins to roar,

Oh the dragons no longer bother me, but they took away the other me,                                                                                                                                                                      I know that it's for my own good not to hang around near the Haunted Wood

I'm well, I'm well, I'm well as far as I can tell, my sanity's not in question, just a little indigestion                                                                                                                    I'm good, I'm good, I'm the pride of my neighbourhood, I pick up litter, I'm not bitter

Now as I gently trim the hedge, I don't dare peer too far over the edge,                                                                                                                                                                      Just next door, just once more, the Mighty Abyss begins to roar

Oh the dragons no longer bother me, but they took away the other me                                                                                                                                                                        I know that it's for my own good not to hang around near the haunted wood

My dreams no longer celestial but comfortably terrestrial, I'm looking through rose coloured spectacles                                                                                                  At the monster's hairy testicles, and now I'm quite respectable, my past is barely detectable

I'm clean, I'm clean, I'm clean as a washing machine, but I still miss the smelly green, I still miss the jelly beans                                                                                       My eyes are bright, my lungs are white, my liver's near pristine but I dread to think what might have been.

Now as I gently trim the hedge, I don't dare peer too far over the edge,                                                                                                                                                                     Just next door, just once more, the Mighty Abyss begins to roar.

Lovers in Paris London to Paris, romantic weekend, a Valentines gift for a special girlfriend,                                                                                                                          Paris in Springtime the weather is fine, we'll smoke French tobacco and drink cheap red wine

And we'll check in to Hotel Bastille and dive under the covers, and we'll spin and we'll sport and cavort just exactly like lovers

We smoked cigarettes and discussed Jean-Paul Sartre, as the sun slowly set on the streets of Montmartre                                                                                              We fanned the cold embers of a love that had gone, but we couldn't admit that we couldn't go on

We walked down a tree-lined avenue full of Citroens and mopeds, and we sat on a bench in a park full of flashers and dopeheads

Paree, Paree, you made a fool out of me, Que sera, C'est la vie, c'est la vie.

Lovers in Paris romantic weekend, but all good things must come to an end                                                                                                                                                             Hotel Bastille dans la Rue de La Roquette, your sad expression I'll never forget

Paree, Paree, you made a fool out of me, Que sera, c'est la vie, c'est la vie

The Heart of a Woman

I've got the heart of a woman in the body of a man, but I am still human, I am what I am                                                                                                                                   I've overcome fear, and I've found my own way, I'm proud and I'm queer, and I'm seizing the day

I've got the heart of a woman in the body of a man.

Meals on high heels, watch us walk by, Authentic and Fearless, true hearts never lie,                                                                                                                                     Seekers of danger, seekers of love, blessed in our fortunes by the Good Lord above,

I've got the heart of a woman in the body of a man.

Daughters of beauty, long is the night, shaking our booty, we fight the good fight.

Premonition of Love

I saw your exhibition of love,I joined your expedition of love, And with constant repetition of love, we made a new definition of love.                                     I had a premonition of love, I knew I had a mission in love, to encourage the fruition of love, where there'd been a demolition of love

I heard a lonely song in the night, about something going wrong in the night I knew I didn't have long to put it right if I was to keep you by my side People told me I should know my place, people told me I should hide my face, people told me I'm a hopeless case, but my feelings I couldn't hide

You gave a demonstration of love, it was a clear explanation of love, there was no hesitation to love, just a warm celebration of love                                         I had to share this creation of love, I had to fight denigration of love, make a fresh affirmation of love, with a discreet libation of love

I was slowly running out of ideas, I was slowly giving in to my fears I was dreading the burgeoning years, until suddenly you walked by                                     I felt a light come on in my heart, I saw a fire grow from a spark, the fire burnt a hole in the dark and I could see with new-born eye

I heard your recitation of love, I felt the excitation of love, I searched for information on love, I made my application for love                                                      I had a premonition of love, I knew I had a mission in love, to encourage the fruition of love, where there'd been a demolition of love.

Take a Photograph

Take a photograph of me and my beautiful hair, take a photograph all of our friends can share, take a photograph of me flying through the air.

Take a photograph, tell me that you love me still, take a photograph, tell me that you always will, take a photograph of me hanging from the window-sill

In the morning when you rise, you can see things through my eyes, In the evening when you try to rest, you can hold me to your breast

Take a photograph, show me that you have no fear, take a photograph up here where the air is so clear, take a photograph and I'll wait for you my dear.

Worship

Give me the socks, give me the shoes, let me take away your blues, give me the shirt, give me the trews, you don't need any more booze                                    Switch off the phone, switch off the news, all aboard the pleasure cruise, my love is true, I'm making you an offer that you can't refuse.

Let me worship you tonight, I want to make you feel alright, I want to make you sleep so tight

Give me hug, give me a kiss, let me know you want to do this, give me a sign, give me a look, let me know you're ready to cook                                                        I'm not usually religious but with you I'll be fastidious, tongues are wagging about who I'm shagging, I ain't bragging but my tail's not dragging.

Let me worship you tonight, I'm going to love you with all my might, let me feed your appetite                                                                                                                       I'm going to treat you good and right, make you feel your love delight, until the morning light, let me worship you tonight

Hey Missus, I got kisses for all your orifices I'm going to take you to Kingdom Come, going to make you cry for your Mum

Murdered in our beds

Murdered in our beds, murdered in our beds, we ain't coming to work today we've been murdered in our beds

Breathtaking views of London town that's what the brochure said, well they certainly took our breath away we've been murdered in our beds

Ordinary people living ordinary lives, mothers with their children, husbands with their wives

greed fear and ignorance created this tragedy, courage love and compassion can set our spirits free

Home is the Hunter (William Butler Yeats, Robert Louis Stevenson, Hunny Jinks)

I know that I shall meet my fate somewhere among the clouds above, those that I fight I do not hate, those that I guard I do not love                                            No Lord no duty made me fight, no public men no cheering crowds, a lonely impulse of delight drove to this tumult in the clouds

Under the wide and starry sky, dig the grave and let me lie, there's the verse you grave for me, here he lies where he longed to be                                                Home is the hunter, home is the hunter now.

I balanced it all, I brought all to mind, the years to come seemed waste of breath,                                                                                                                                                  A waste of breath the years behind, in balance with this life, this death

Under the wide and starry sky, dig the grave and let me lie, there's the verse you grave forme, here he lies where he longed to be                                                 Home is the hunter, home is the hunter now.

Seventy miles an hour, tomorrow this will all be flowers, I hope that Paradise, is worth the sacrifice                                                                                                            Home is the hunter, home is the hunter now.
